This game has five characters for you to choose from. These people are children of the
Gods and have to go around killing evil scum and monsters. This game was
originally called Young Olympians and was scheduled to be released on the N64,
but they re-named it and seriously upgraded the graphics for the Dolphin.
Saffire is the tale
of five Olympians based on ancient Greek mythology. Zeus, realizing that he and
the other gods are damaging the planet, swears to never return to Earth. Before
leaving, Zeus confines the harmful gods to the underworld, where they are to
remain forever; incapable of inflicting any further damage on the planet. As the
story goes, one fateful day a group of archaeologists stumbles upon the seals
placed by Zeus and opens them, unknowingly releasing the destructive gods of the
past. Zeus, honouring his promise to never return to Earth, looks hopelessly
down from above. Eventually, he enlists the help of five teenagers: three women
and two men. These young heroes, children of gods, travel through the underworld
and across the globe to overcome the evil gods, led by the son of Hades.
So you
can play as anyone of these five different characters, each of which has special
abilities, we're not talking things like running faster and jumping higher, I
mean these are the children of the Gods, for example Priscilla, the daughter of
Zeus, has complete control over electricity and sound. Here
are all the characters:
Priscilla: Daughter of Zeus and
Iris, she is the leader of the five young Olympians. Taking after her
father, Priscilla has the ability to manipulate electricity and is also
capable of creating or destroying sound.
Damian: The result of a drunken
affair between Bacchus and Athena, Damian is the most cunning of the
warriors. His love for drinking and artistic abilities combine to give him
the power of conjuring up things from his imagination.
Melanie: She is the daughter of
Hephaestus and Aphrodite. Melanie has her mother's beauty and her father's
brains. Yet, even with all her appeal, Melanie is more interested in
modern technology than relationships. She fears Lyssa, the prophetic of
the five Olympians.
Lyssa: This daughter of Hermes and
Forethought serves as a messenger for the gods with her winged feet.
Wielding control of time, Lyssa is capable of peering into the future.
Odysseus: Son of Apollo and
Nemesis, Odysseus is a scholar with control over fire and light. He can
easily use his abilities to blind or incinerate opponents.
At
first glance, Saffire is very reminiscent of something along the lines of Tomb
Raider. However, this third-person action-adventure seems much more
promising, boasting heavy puzzle as well as fighting elements. Like in many
fighting games, special moves and combos will be controlled by button sequences.
